1. Who is responsible?

2. What data is processed?

iTell is intentionally designed to minimize data collection. We distinguish between data that stays on your device and data that is briefly transmitted to external services for individual features.

Diagnostic data: To fix technical problems, pseudonymous diagnostic data (e.g. error type, time, app version, pseudonymous device identifier) is sent to our server when a technical error occurs. No content entered by you or your child is stored - no names, no story ideas, no texts.

3. Processing by third parties

To make iTell work, individual requests are sent to specialized external services. These services are, by name: Anthropic PBC (USA), OpenAI, L.L.C. (USA), Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence Co., Ltd. (China) and Fish Audio (USA). A data processing agreement is in place with each of these providers, ensuring an equivalent level of protection. None of these providers may use the transmitted data for their own purposes or for advertising. Only the data necessary for each feature is transmitted. Direct identifying data such as a full name, address or photo is never transmitted.

AI text services (story generation)

To write the stories, your story request is sent to specialized AI text services. Before the request leaves your device, the first name you entered for your child is automatically replaced with a neutral placeholder. The name is therefore not sent to the AI text services; it is only reinserted into the finished text on your device. Only your story details (e.g. topic, age, type of main character) are transmitted, which on their own do not allow your child to be identified. The transmission serves solely to generate the story once. The finished story is stored only locally on your device.

AI audio service (read-aloud)

Converts stories into speech (text-to-speech). For this we use Fish Audio, a text-to-speech provider based in the USA. Only the story text to be read aloud is transmitted; this text may contain your child's first name, as the name is reinserted into the finished story. Because the provider is based in the USA, a transfer there takes place. This is carried out on the basis of the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR).

Voice cloning (Premium only)

If you use this feature, a short audio sample of your voice is sent to Fish Audio, a text-to-speech provider based in the USA, to generate a narration voice from it. This happens only with your explicit consent. You should only record your own voice, or that of a person who has given you permission. The transfer to the USA is carried out on the basis of the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR). The resulting voice is stored at this provider. You can delete it at any time directly in the app; it is then also deleted there.

Google Play / Apple App Store

Subscription and purchase processing is handled by the app stores. We only receive information about whether a subscription is active, no payment data. To manage subscriptions and usage limits, we store pseudonymous data on our server (a device identifier with subscription status and usage counters); no names, content or stories are stored there.

Social networks

We run a TikTok presence under the umbrella brand Galtasar (@galtasarde). Neither the app nor this website embeds content, buttons or tracking pixels from social networks. No data is therefore transmitted to TikTok unless you go there yourself. If you visit our presence there, the privacy notices of the respective operator apply.

Fonts

The fonts used (Baloo 2, Nunito) are served from our own server. No connection to Google Fonts is made and your IP address is not transmitted to third parties.

4. What we DON'T do

• No tracking, no cookies (except technically necessary)
• No analytics tools (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, etc.)
• No advertising in the app
• No sharing or selling of data to advertising partners
• No profiling of your child
• No cloud storage of stories or profiles without your action

5. Data retention

Data on your device remains stored for as long as you use the app. When you uninstall, all locally stored data (profiles, stories, app settings and the voice list stored in the app) is deleted automatically.

A cloned voice is additionally stored at an external AI audio service. It is deleted there as soon as you delete the voice in the app. Uninstalling alone does not remove it there. So if you want to fully remove a cloned voice, please delete it in the app before uninstalling. If you have already uninstalled, you can request deletion by email.

Requests transmitted to third-party providers are processed only briefly to deliver the function, in accordance with their respective policies.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
• Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
• Erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR)
• Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
• Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
• Object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
• Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR)

You can withdraw consent to external AI services at any time directly in the app under App Info → Privacy. After withdrawal, the app sends no new story, audio, or voice data to those services until you consent again.

Since most data is stored locally on your device, you can exercise these rights directly within the app - for example, by deleting profiles or uninstalling the app.

7. Children & Privacy

iTell is explicitly intended for parents who use the app together with their children. The app is designed so that no direct identifying data of children such as a full name, address or photo leaves the device.

We recommend that parents accompany app usage and explore the read-aloud feature together with their children.
